Diaspora Matters is a Dublin based consultancy company that has worked with over 30 countries, cities and regions helping them develop strategies to connect with their Diasporas. They have developed the concept of Diaspora Capital which refers to the overseas resources available to a country, region, city or organisation and is made up of three flows – people, knowledge and finance.
The CEO of Diaspora Matters is Kingsley Aikins who was the former CEO of the Ireland Funds (1992 – 2009) an organisation of the Irish Diaspora and he helped raise over a quarter of a billion dollars for over 1500 organisations in Ireland. The Ireland Funds hold more than 100 events in 39 cities in 13 countries attended by over 40,000 people. With over 250 million people living outside the country they were born in countries are realising that they have an untapped resource that technology and communications are now making accessible.
Diaspora Matters have developed a series of online/offline training programmes in Diaspora, Philanthropy, Networking and Speaking/Presenting which are available for cell phone use and in-house workshops and presentations.
