I possess strong theoretical and analytical skills with an up-to date understanding of development issues; Having spearheaded the Africa-UK initiative in Wales, collaboratively working with Africa Diaspora communities as well as key international development stakeholders, I am now in charge of running SSAP and running and managing SSAP’s main projects. I have founded and managed the first Wales African Film Festival and assisted in delivering Europe’s largest Africa Film Festival. RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:

April 2013 – Now: Capacity Building and Advocacy Officer for Sub Sahara Advisory Panel (SSAP):
I am responsible for coordinating SSAP’s activities as well as running and managing its outreach programs to Welsh African communities contributing to the developments of Africa. I currently manage the Arica-UK initiative in Wales. This is a DFID and Comic Relief funded project to support African Diasporas involved in international development. Through this, I have organized trainings, conferences and seminars for African communities to raise profiles of their contribution; build their understanding of policy developments in Africa; increase their capacity to engage and influence international development policy makers and contribute to a UK-wide African Diaspora campaign to influence and engage policy makers.

April 2013 – Now: Founder and Director of Watch-Africa – Wales African Film Festival (WAFF)
Watch-Africa 2013 is the first Wales African Film Festival in Wales and having founded the festival, I was responsible in organising and managing all aspects of the festival. This included applying for funds; liaising with funders, sponsors, film distributors and other stakeholders; Running a marketing and communication strategy which included preparing press release, social media campaign and managing the website as well as working with volunteers and assistants.

September 2013 – Now: Admin and Project Coordinator for Life for African Mothers (L4AM)
Responsible for all admin tasks as well as assisting in coordinating charity’s projects in Africa, I collaboratively work with our partners in Sub-Saharan Africa to ensure successful delivery of our projects. This varies from organizing, preparing and managing midwife-volunteers for their trips to Africa; managing the charity’s finances as well as assisting in fundraising, research and grant applications. Working alongside the CEO, volunteers, trustees and our pool of fundraisers, I also assist in strategically planning the charity’s future programs.

December 2012 – March 2013: Online and Communication Intern with Royal African Society (RAS)
Using web-publishing software such as WordPress, Drupal etc, I was responsible in updating and adding contents to ‘Gateway for Africa’, a website listing Africa-related events across UK. I also assisted in spearheading its social media campaign by promoting published materials through Facebook and Twitter to its 2000+ followers. I also contributed to RAS’s, ‘African Arguments’, a website and platform to analyze current issues happening in Africa.

June – November 2012: Event Organizer with Film Africa 2012: Interning for Europe’s leading African Film Festival, I was responsible for updating its databases and websites; research on fundraising opportunities and assisting in various organizational, operational and admin tasks. Using social media to raise awareness of the festival and assist in programming the events and activities during the festival. I also ensured a smooth running of events by liaising with projectionist, volunteers, festival managers and directors.

September 2009 – January 2010: Legal Intern with United Nation International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UNICTR): Assigned to all aspects of prosecution work within the Akazu trial team in the Office of the Prosecution (OTP). Working as a team under a senior prosecutor, tasks included assisting lawyers with preparation of examinations in chief and cross-examinations of witnesses, drafting of motions, pre-trial, closing and appeals briefs, assisted in classification and preparation of evidence for trial, undertaking general legal research, preparing various documents such as books of authorities and discussion papers and going on investigative missions in Rwanda. I gained a first class grade for the report of this placement, submitted as part of my MA.

February 2007- September 2009: Volunteer at African Initiative: Assisted in spearheading the Global Citizenship campaign by helping to create the Global Resource Catalogue for Schools in South, West England as well as assiting in admin and research tasks.

May – September 2005: Charity Fundraiser (on commission) for Person To Person: I achieved an above average signing up of 4 people per day at £4 a week through street and door to door methods

OTHER EMPLOYMENT:
August 2008-April 2012: Assistant Manager for Compass Plc at Bristol City Museum: I managed and organized 5+ members of staff to deliver catering services, regularly receiving very positive feedback from my customers; recently co-supervised a very successful catering event for 500 people on the opening night of Banksy’s exhibition. My key achievement was to continue to ensure delivery of high quality catering services following a three-fold rise in attendance figures to the museum. Other tasks include dealing with customer enquiries, cash handling, events booking, staff training, preparing budgets and business reviews.

I did also assist in the multistakeholder development of the Niger Nutrition Profile advocacy tool. After the year internship, I served as an acting national health coordinator for the Ghana Red Cross Society. At the Red Cross Ghana, I coordinated various activities such as the maternal and child health programme for the Northern Ghana, HIV/AIDS drop in center programme for commercial sex workers, the Sustainable Change Programme which included malaria control, family planning the real man programme and child nutrition. I also actively participated in various national and international programmes such as the national stakeholder and planning committee meetings for the national immunization programme. I served on the fact finding mission for the International Federation of the Red Cross in Nigeria as a member of the Rapid Disaster Response Team (Health) where we assessed and plan relief and recovery programme for the Bakassi returnees. I currently carry out three basic responsibilities as a lecturer at the Community Medicine Department of the University of Cape Coast Medical School namely lecturing, research and extension services. I deliver lectures in public health, nutrition and gender and health studies. As civil society person, I serve on the Western and Central African Sub-Committee of the Peoples Health Movement that advocate on right to health and also serve as a member of the core team of Peoples Health Movement Ghana.

I am Alphons Koruhama a young social entrepreneurship. I am advocating for youth unemployment in Namibia to be reduced, and that moved to established a company that training young people to start their business. Our company focuses on this three areas.
1. Career Development- where we help school dropouts especially girls to find their lost dream due to hardship or whatever causes their failure by mentoring them and sourcing funds for them to go back to schools or University.
2. Entrepreneur Development- Where we foster economic transformation by helping young entrepreneurs who are at the startup level, to train, mentor and create networks for them with established business. and link them to potentials investors.
3. EAT-IT which stand for Energy, Agriculture, Tourism and Information Technology- Where we train the youth to start business in this sectors, and try to link these sectors together by incorporating all them together.
With this initiatives we host pitching competitions for our trainees and also conference to engage them with those in public offices and networking events.

My name is Olatunde Barber, I am an artist and Curator from Nigeria. I graduated from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, Nigeria in 1999 with a B.A fine arts.

I took up employment with the National Gallery of Art, Nigeria between 2002 and 2008.

I graduated from the University of Lagos, Nigeria with a M.A Visual Art in the year 2009.

I worked as an artist and independent curator between 2009 and 2011.

In 2011 I took up an appointment as a sculpture lecturer at the Fine and Applied Arts department of the Lagos state Polytechnic.

In 2012 I took up an appointment as a curator at the University of Lagos Museum and in 2016 I commenced on PhD at the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester, UK which I am working on till date.
